Creating an eco-safe, family-friendly, van life opportunity for your next adventure!

After 12 years of full-time travel with our family of seven in the Eco Womb, a 38ft RV converted tiny home on wheels, we know what it takes to hit the road, what you need and what you don’t, and that the adventure and memories made are the most important part. Now, you can rent your own mini-version of the Eco Womb! An eco-friendly, hand-built campervan conversion designed to fit a family of five comfortably. Whether you are testing out van life before you hit the road full-time, or you want a weekend getaway into the mountains, our new Eco Roam was built with love by our fam for yours, to get out into nature, and off on your next adventure together!

Eco and family-focused features

  • Family Friendly

We know what it’s like to adventure and camp with a family. We’ve been living in our tiny home on wheels and traveling the country for the past 11 years! So, we know what a family needs to be comfortable, and the essentials to bring along. The Eco Roam is outfitted with five seats with seat belts and we purposefully chose a passenger van to convert so that kiddos wouldn’t miss the adventure along the way and could see out all those windows.

  • Non-Toxic Materials

Using non-toxic materials in our campervan means you won’t have to bring all the extra things that we usually do when we are going into a new space, or worry about funny smells and what chemicals are being used, because everything is eco-safe! The Eco Roam has been built using safe materials, and is outfitted with organic bedding, cloth napkins, natural wood products and bamboo plates, bowls and utensils.

  • Sustainable Build

The Eco Roam family campervan was built with the same mindset as our Eco Womb that we have lived in for the past 11 years. Everything was sourced locally, we used repurposed hardwood floors, recycled cabinetry, organic fabrics, coffee stained wood and was built by our family with our own hands to give it as much love and attention to detail as possible.

  • Safe Cleaning Products

Having five kids and a family of chemical sensitivities, we know firsthand the importance of choosing eco-safe cleaning products. So rest assured, we will only ever use non-toxic cleaning products in between guests. It will smell good and be safe, because you have more important things to do on a family camping trip than worry about what products were used, like get out and breathe that fresh air!

  • Organic Bedding

After a full day adventuring, we know you want to sleep comfortably and not worry about what you are laying your head on. So, we have outfitted the Eco Roam with organic mattresses and organic bedding, and will wash everything with the same eco-safe laundry detergent that we use for our own family. Because, by renting the Eco Roam family camper van, you are family.

  • Family Fun

We want you to enjoy adventuring into the great outdoors as much as we have over the past decade of traveling with our family. With each booking we will take into consideration your family dynamic and make sure to include things that you may need. Bringing kids of all ages, we’ll include a family friendly local hiking guidebook and activity books. And, be sure to check out the sleeping cubbies for fun storybooks and a few eco-safe toys for when you are winding down at the end of an adventurous day.

Eco Roam Amenities

FAQs

  • Absolutely! We have five kids so wanted to make sure to provide an option for others with multiple kids to get out and try van life. But anyone can rent the Eco Roam! With an extra bunk space under the main bed, you can use that for gear, or bring 5 adults and tent camp under the stars alongside the van. There are many options, reach out to us and tell us your story so we can best accommodate you!

  • We chose the Ford Transit 15 seat Passenger Van for a reason. We left five factory seats in place so that we could seat five people with shoulder strap seat belts. And, there is room for 3 car seats, with 2 of them having the LATCH system. If you need us to measure for your particular car seats, as they are all different widths, reach out and we would be glad to help!

  • Another reason we chose a passenger van to build out, ALL those windows! We purposely left all the windows unobstructed and did not build over them because to us it’s not an adventure unless you can see all the beauty you are exploring. And with a full three seats in the back we wanted to make sure even the smallest passenger could watch the wildlife go by along the journey. Also, waking up to a sunrise or falling asleep to a sunset is the best!

  • All of our wood used for the Eco Roam, including the bed, shelves, and butcher block countertop, was stained using spent coffee grounds from a local coffee shop. We mixed up the coffee grounds with boiling water and a splash of organic olive oil, and then hand stained every piece of wood needed for the build. It comes out a beautiful color, is durable and completely non-toxic, and it smells good!
